Not right next door to one, but I grew up in an area where there was a lot of, not necessarily bad people, but on the wrong side of the law.

I had the house across the street rented twice in a row to drug dealers. They really aren't very bright, in general. Although watching the SWAT team breakdown the door and haul them out was really entertaining.
