Don't change yourself to attract popular people. I like to compare social interaction to advertising. Don't advertise something you are not because you will attract people that are looking for something you are not. As time goes on, the popular people may or may not be popular. No one likes a
'social chameleon', be yourself and you will attract people that like YOU. Also, nothing is more attractive than self-confidence. Advertisers wouldn't say:"Buy my product, I thinks its crap but you might like it." Stand tall, be proud of who you are and you are bound to attract others. That is one of the characteristics that is attractive in the 'popular' crowd..pride. But have pride without change!

Ah, now you understand the difference between being popular and being well-liked. The "popular" kids at any school are generally the snobbiest, meanest, cruelest, most power-hungry, most back-stabbing, most shallow kids around. They don't care about you, or even about each other - they just want the title and all the glamour that goes with it.
So ask yourself - is that who you want to be? Mean and rude and two-faced? Having to hurt other people or make fun of them just so you can stay popular?
Or would you rather have some real friends? Maybe not so cool, or so pretty, but far kinder and nicer? More fun to be around, because you can relax and be yourself, without having to impress them every minute? Friends who care about your feelings and always make room for you at the lunch table?

I first made that choice in fourth grade.... and at 30 I still have all my grade school and high school friends... and those snobby girls who made fun of us are bitter and pathetic and still as shallow as ever.
Go watch "13 Going on 30" and "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and ask yourself again if you really want to be popular... or if you'd rather be yourself, and happy.

This question has been asked for years by many people. The answer is most likely going to be one that you will not like. However, it is the truth. I realize that you are working very hard to make friends, but ask yourself this; if you have to work that hard to make friends with someone, Are they really worth making friends with? Will they back you up in a tight spot if you get into trouble? Most likely not.
People like Bill Gates was not a popular kid he was always viewed as the geek, but who's laughing now? Remember, be true to yourself that's the most important thing. Don't try to change who you are to make others like you; trust me when I say it's not worth it. I've been there and done that.
When I was in your shoes I found it best to keep with the friends I already had and enjoy the fun we had. We found ways of being intresting in our own right. many times it was by simply doing something silly or stupid or just telling really good jokes where others could hear them and get a good laugh. I never had to change my ways, but others eventually came to me.
Don't sweat it! You'll be fine. Enjoy your life and the friends you currently have!
I hope this helps.

Popularity isn't everything ya know. In my opinion popular people are mean brats. I am not popular but my friends think im awesome and that's all that really matters. As long as you have at least one good friend you are popular to them and that is the important part. Friends are good even when they are popular and non popular. But if you really strive to get popular here are some tips... be nice, be funny, stay cool, take care of your apearance.

popular ppl never call them selves popular people and hardly ever try. these days "popular" is chosen at random. Popular actually means someone who is well known and/or liked. Most of the popular kids at my school are hated by aton of ppl. its not all its cracked up to be. i was considered "popular" and i might still be to some extent but all that really matters is that you have friends. if you dont have friends and the "popular" clique isnt excepting you then try hanging out with other ppl. good luck. if you need anymore help email me at sportychick10@ameritech.net

It's all sound immature to me.
If you stay near Versace house, it doesn't mean you are gonna be famous. If you sit with the populars, it won't show you're popular.
Forget about acting like someone and be yourself! People will value you for your own unique personality, your positive qualities. Be afraid of nothing, never ask for anything and the whole world is open for you.

My thought is is that your trying to hard. Believe me, I'm only 14 but I used to be like that. You're following them around, and basically, that's exactly what they want you to do. Be nice to them, but my suggestion is to meet new friends. Ones that are loyal because from what it sounds like, they find you a tad bit annoying. As for changing over the summer, why not get a new haircut or a new wardrobe? Maybe even over spring break would be cool to. Just be yourself and don't try so hard, (I was exactly the same way trust me) and it'll all fit in naturally. People like people who are themselves, not people who are desperate.
Good Luck!

Popularity, in my opinion, is OVER RATED!! Why don't you find a group of friends that love you and stop trying to change yourself into something others hate. Why hang out with people that hate you?

The more you try the more desperate you look. So stop trying. You are acting like you need them by trying to talk to them, sit with them, etc. They are laughing at you.

Act like you could care less who they are and what they do. The best way to become popular is become involved in EVERYTHING. Every sport you can get in, every club (that interests you), volunteer to organize stuff, etc. Make everybody know who you are. Eventually they will start trying to talk to you and ask you to sit with them, etc. Don't accept to readily or you will still look desperate.

Hey don't try so hard to be popular. Why do you want to be friends with them if they're mean? Real people like people who are just themselves and are not social climbers. It seems like you will have a much better time with real friends and with the real you.

by the way this totally sounds like a Lifetime movie or something.
