PC Server = Similar to the PC, but optimized for network requests like DNS, DHCP, Print server, web services. Capable of running programs in the background (batch processing) for which it has been optimized to do.

Mainframe/mid-range systems = Mainly a batch processing system with a simple text based user interface. capable of all tasks a PC or PC server is capable of, but is a true multithreaded system in which hundreds or thousands of jobs can run simultaneously which makes this type of system an ideal web-server and/or an ideal system to where hundreds or thousands of users may connect to. These system's terminals are found in airport ticketing counter, rental car chain store. The terminal connects the users to a central database for real time information. The user interface is primarily for inquiries or data entry tasks as an airline ticketing counter or a major rental car company. The user interface on this type of system is most likely a menu driven interface and more technical types have a command line interface.
