I opened my computer case to wipe out the dust in the bottom. I didn't touch anything else inside. I connected everyting back correctly. THe blue light on the stereo speakers is on, but no sound will come out. Before I disconnected them and I was moving the tower forward..they were making some odd sounds. I have the volume set correctly in the volume bar. I know what I'm doing, but I'm completely lost on why they stopped working.

Ensure that the speakers are:

Still plugged in at the back
Plugged into the correct green audio output port
Not on Mute

This is the basis of the issues.

same thing happened to me some years ago. My guess is that your sound card drivers are in need of updating. They'll just cut out one day for no reason. Find out you sound card mfgr and log onto their website, they should have updated drivers.
