OK you may say I was imagining it or was a victim of mass hypnosis or many other reasons that I did not see what I saw.

I was about 10 years old at the time which dates the incident to aprox 1957.
I was out playing with friends on a summers night. We conrigated on a grassy bank, I was lying back just gazing at the moon, when I noticed a small (red?) flashing light circling the moon. On that night the moon was a cresent but the light navigated a perfect circle going around the portion of the moon that was dark.
I pointed this out and my friends saw the same thing.
We watched this light for about 10 to 15 minutes and being kids we got bored and went off to do something else.

I thought no more about this incident until I saw a small piece in a book years later.

I know for a fact I saw this light but have no explaination.

Does anyone out there know anything about this incident

Would you believe a 10 year old if they told you that story today?? We tend to mold our memories to what we want to believe as time goes on. You may have seen a fire fly or a plane go past the moon but you remember it differently today.

I do remember reading a couple of years ago of reports of an unusual moon over Britian in the late 50's for a few nights. There were large forest fires in Canada and the smoke filtering up shaded the moon in unusual colors.

Wild guess, but that might have been a partial Lunar eclipse.
