Put an add in the local paper on on a school bulletin board or local food market billboard.
Many people (like me) have old PCs they haven't used for years & will almost always be willing to give them to someone who needs it.
I know I would (& have).

I really don't think theres any place that would give out old computers for free. A lot of people who have used computers for years collect their old computers for a retro taste.
I would just suggest asking around your friends to see if they have a rig they can spare. But besides that I don't think theirs any company that would give out a computer for free.

Try registering with your local freecycle website. I am a member of my local site and have got rid of an old tv. Have seen people giving old computers away in the past.

eBay has some old computers for almost free. I saw iMac computers for $40. That's pretty cheap, if you can use a Mac.

You can go to your local recycling center, i got a case for modding from there, and it came with windows 98 for free.
