Get the nano for on-the-go activites/sports.
Get the 30 or 80 gig iPod if you plan on going on long plane rides.

I use an IPOD 4gb Nano. I have an Alpine car stereo with a connection in the glovebox to charge the IPOD and play my tunes. I love it.

I play the music in my head. I don't need an iPod...
I can forward to any part of any song I choose, and hear it over and over wothout my batteries going dead.
