Seeing that you are 47 years old in your profile, I certainly recommend a suit to give your potential employer the best possible impression and show that you are professional. If you were in your teens, like me, then a dress would do the trick. But, either way, going to an interview with casual attire is a big "what not to do for an interview" type of thing.

GENERAL

* In general, wear something similar to what you'd wear whilst on the job. If you're not sure what kind of clothing would be expected of you, take a look at employees arriving or leaving to get a better idea.

However, if you're applying for a job as a painter, welder or nurse, for examples, you won't be wanting to turn up for the interview in a pair of paint splashed dungarees or a uniform. In these situations, good old-fashioned common sense is what's needed

WOMEN

* Unless you're applying for a job in a nightclub or a trendy boutique, go easy on the make-up. Think subtle.

* Make sure your clothes are immaculate, regardless of the style you've chosen to suit the job in question. Everything should be spotless and tights/stockings shouldn't have even the tiniest run. Shoes should be clean and not run down at the heels.

* Don't wear overpowering perfume regardless of the position you're applying for. An understated fragrance is best.

MEN

* If you're wearing a tie, learn to knot it properly. A sloppily knotted tie always makes me think "if this guy can't even be bothered to learn to knot his own tie properly, what can I expect of him on the job?"

* Clothes should be clean and tidy regardless of the style you choose to wear. While it's acceptable to wear jeans for some kind of jobs, there's a world of difference between jeans that hang off your backside and look as though they've been left to dry in a heap and those that are uncreased and fit properly.

If anything's wrinkled, get the iron out. It may not be your favourite appliance but there are times when you just have to use it.

* Shoes! Too many men ignore their shoes. You wouldn't believe what a bad impression it makes when a man turns up for an interview wearing an immaculate suit with a smart shirt and tie but his shoes are unpolished and badly tied. Polish exists for a reason and tying a neat bow isn't difficult.

This one is a total no brainer, WEAR THE SUIT!!! It is your one chance to set a first impression. Later after you get the job and the boss is thinking who will I promote? Your first impression of a guy that looks good in a suit will come back. It doesn't matter if you are applying for the job to clean the sewer or the president of the company wear the best clothes you own.

I guess, as your name is collin, you are a man..

So i guess you wont be setting a good example by going in a dress...

But it depends what they say or what its for. If its a job interview i would suggest going in a suit (or dress), but if its more casual things then going in something smart but formal

I have interviewed hundreds of people for many different kinds of jobs, I can assure you that it's no sin to be well-dressed. You want to look better than your competition! Being under-dressed sends a negative message, which is just the opposite of what you should be trying to do.

I have more than once passed over a person who looked sloppy, but NEVER have I rejected anyone because they dressed too well. Do your best at everything you do.

You don't go casual. You wear business attire: a suit or a nice sport coat, pants and tie. Women should wear a suit or a pants suit.

Depends. But I suggest you dress in a suit for the best impression. However, if you're going for a job as a mechanic, jean and a nice shirt would do fine.

It does depend on what the interview is for.

I always say, that first impressions count, but I also think you have to be comfortable. It's no good wearing something really smart if you are going to sit there fidgeting all the way through the interview.
