I reckon Kuyt will he's pure class and lots of times is played deep midfield instead of striker. Next year I think your'll find he'll get 15-20, he's brilliant and unselfish unlike some strikers, I'd love him at Arsenal.

Yes sad but true, we (Liverpool) are crying out for a 20 goal a season man, Dirk Kuyt was bought for this reason as he was a regular 25 goals a season in Holland, but he has failed to set the premiership alight with goals, Bellamy and crouch are not the answer either, if only Fowler was 10 years younger, but things are looking good for the summer transfer dealings with the yanks hicks /gillet with massive money to spend so we will finally be able to match Man u and Chelsea in the money stakes,a lot of top strikers will be linked with us in the summer, and for me it has to be Samuel Eto'o of Barcelona or David Villa of Valencia to fill the void next season, YNWA

^^ Owen has scored 20 goals in all competions as many as 5 times, won the top scorer in the Premier League twice, has scored 18 and 19 goals in the league more then once. I am not entirely sure if those stats are entirely accurate, but I know he scored 20 goals a year many times.

He was a 20 goal a year striker while at Liverpool. Scoring 20 goals in one year in all competions means he was a 20 goal scorer, and he did it almost half a dozen times.

LFC needs FINISHERS -- those who will put their chances and half chances at the back of the net...

that's the problem of this club all along... you don't really need a 20+ goal a season striker so long as your players convert their chances...

kuyt belonged to 20+ goal/season striker but look at him now... ok, perhaps he needs more time but he has to turn his rate quick if he doesn't want to sit at the bench...

morientes is another example... but he failed miserably in his merseyside escapade....

you can get this type of player but again, if they will not put their chances away, buying them will be a waste of money...

methinks that the likes of bellamy and crouch are far better guarantees because they convert their chance... their not pretty but hey, they are effective...

the real question is, what would you rather have -- bragging rights to the top scorer of the epl or finally getting a hold of the premiership trophy at the end of the season?

Liverpool need some quality strikers right now, I am a liverpool Suppoter, but the problem right now is that rafa is bringing in young players, who are good, but new to the premiership environment, I would say, Dirk Kuyt and Belamy would be able to pull through,

I think they will have to depend on other guys to step up there game but Owen is a good player but he wasn't the team so I think the strikers they have now will have a more even goal count so don't worry too much. They sure aren't bad enough to be relegated.

Certainly not craig bellamy, he was rubbish for us ( toon supporter here )

Owen 7 goals in 11 games, shame about injury hopefully next season him and martins can put 40 + between them,

was a bit doubtfull at first and was gunning for kuyt, but martins at the end of the day seems to be pulling it off.

Am sure you would have rather have had martins, but since next season we will have him and owen its not looking good for the lad that left newcastle ( bellamy ) and the one who could have come to newcastle ( kuyt )

I'd love them to sign Berbatov-can't see Spurs letting him go without a massive fight though.
Failing that-I reckon David Nugent would score goals for fun with the calibre of players at Liverpool around him.
David Villa and Fernando Torres spring to mind-can't see them wanting to leave Spain to play in England, though!!
Reckon the Champions League is on for the mighty Pool this season-then the Prem. will come next year-wait and see!!

Owen never scored 20 league goals in a season for liverpool. i think the most he scored was 19.
david villa might be worth a punt or even try with a bid for van nistelrooy. what ever manure got rid of him for in the first place i'll never know.
