If you're talking album sales with crossover power, Kenny Rogers, along with the Bellamy Brothers and the Charlie Daniels Band, is the most overlooked of artists.
These guys dominate retro album sales for non-greatest hits packages, along with The Eagles, Pink Floyd and Def Leppard.

Kenny Rogers isn't a musician, he's a singer. Plus, while he is a good singer, he's not a great one. He was very popular 20+ years ago, so I wouldn't call him underrated.

I like Kenny Rogers too. My favorite song by him is Twenty Years ago. Not really fond of some of the new stuff he did, though.

i drove by when bulldozers were tearing down his chicken restaurant in marietta, ga. he had his wife on his shoulder and a wistful look in his eye. some say his chicken was the most underrated around.
he sold the space to a papa johns. who's the daddy now?
but what about his movies? the gambler is good.

I agree he is very underrated today, but when he was in his prime he received a lot of credit. He can still put on a show.

I have met him and he is a great singer with a lot of great songs. I agree with your admiration of him.
