it started to but at the advice of a good friend i saw a wonderful doctor and got some help. my husband was also very supportive and understanding even though he didn't really understand it. what way did it hurt the marriage? well, the more depressed i got the more i withdrew causing us to become very distant. we didn't even know one another anymore. once i started my meds it didn't take long to get back into the swing of it and we've been great ever since.

Conflict or anger itself does not have to cause an irreparable rift between partners. With good communication skills and a shared commitment to a marriage, even these are surmountable. How to save your marriage https://tr.im/02e7J
However, at that point where one partner is at the brink of abandoning the relationship, how can the remaining partner save their marriage? If you are at the point where your spouse has asked for a divorce, what can you do?
You must realize first that, you do have a choice. Often, when confronted by a crisis, we find ourselves backed into a corner thinking we have no choice in the matter. How can we change the situation when it involves another person's feelings or decisions? While we cannot, must not and in no way manipulate, blackmail or threaten our partner into changing their mind, we can actually control how we react to the situation. If anything, you must realize that you still have control over yourself. You have the opportunity to look inward and take responsibility for your own feelings and actions and even have the chance to take personal inventory of what your partner is trying to tell you. Are there points in your marriage that must be changed? If so, respond appropriately and proactively.

Yes, it essentially broke mine up. My husband didn't understand what I was going through and to be frank neither did I. He felt that when I would withdrawal it was because I didn't want to be with him, however, it was because I was depressed. The sad thing is he says that 'if he had known then what he knows now, things would be different'. At this point I have moved on and so has he. If you are experiencing this please get some help, see a counselor or a doctor for some medication. It would have saved my family a lot of heartache. Good luck.

I am about to get married in July of this year and I am constantly unhappy....I know it is a form of depression. It really does hurt our relationship and I know its going to carry into our marriage if I don't change something. He has even told me that I bring him down constantly.....its not something you can easily change, it doesn't happen over night!

No, but when my spouse has anxiety over work, or what has to get done the next day, it kind of puts a damper on my day as well.....
