You download camstudio which record what you do on the computer at http://www.camstudio.org/. Then you find clips on youtube and record them. Download a song on your
computer. Some naruto songs are found here:http://www.narutochuushin.com/main.php?category=multimedia&page=soundtrack&. For easy to use, open windows movie maker (I always use that) which is only on win2000 and winXP. Import all the clips and your music. Then when done, drag and drop the clips and the song. If you can't find a song, use camstudio and go find a video that has a song. Then use the video as the audio music or the regular old song. I would prefer to convert that video into a .wav file use radvideo tools which you can find at http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm or the clips would be off sync with your song.

To cut clips that are not on the time line, click the clip, move the bar to where you want to cut and then press the button with two films. To cut on the time line, there are couple. One is to drag the begging and the ends closer together. The other is the same thing as the one before. Its like cutting the clip in half and delete the one you want.

Ok about the video altogether, what are you trying to prove or whats is the meaning of your amv? Use a song that would go with the video. Using Movie maker, you need to think what clips would go along with the song as you progress through it. Two things to think about video: mouth flaps (sound sync) and visualization. Parts of the song you would use the characters mouth movements to make as he or she would be singing the song and then visualization is using videos of the charater doing something that represents part of the song. Now if you now really get the hang of it and you are more advance, you should now move on to special effects. There aren't much special effects in movie maker as the ones in other products like putting a character in a scene where he really isn't there. There is color changing, some texture, rotation, speed up/slow down, brightening and darken, fading out which is when a clip fades out in white. So to add these, you drag and drop in front of the clip you want use. And then there are transitions, which I advice you not to use too much (I don't really used them so its up to you). If you want more, you need to purchase another movie making thing by other companies.

Some tips.
I use too many small clips which you will find annoying in WMM. Eventually It will freeze. So be on the lookout for more of movie maker products by adobe, mac, or hp. And try not to use too many small clips.

Always mute the clips until the end of the song. You can do this by right clicking the clips on the time line.

This is the order you should do things: The title of your AMv and name on one slide; then the song's artist, name, and album on another slide (you do these things by clicking make title or credits); then drag the song in to the audio/music section after the last slide or lines up with it ;then add clips as you go alone with the song(playing the song repeatedly helps so you know which clips you need); Then add credits where you got your stuff from after all your clips of the anime episodes; Then right after your song drag another kind of song in audio/music (It won't bore the audience to death when watching the credits). Make the audio fade in and out by right click the song and click fade in, and then do it again with fade out.
