My 5-year old daughter told me today she'd seen a scorpion on the slide ladder at her pre-school. I wasn't sure if she was telling me the correct name of the bug or not, so I showed her a few pictures. She did pick out the scorpion in the group, so I showed her some pics of some Florida scorpions. She picked out the Florida Bark Scorpion.

The playground is on mulch, and acording to the literature, this is a good place for these scorps to live. So here are my questions.

1. Is there anything the school can do to rid the playground of these things?

2. How worried should I be that my daughter is running around with these things? The literature says they're not very poisonous but that their sting can hurt, but obviously I'm still concerned.

Thanks.

I also would be worried, I can't even stand to look at them.
Thank God I haven't had the chance to have a run in. I found a web site that might help you out a little. www.thebestcontrol.com/bugstop/control_scorpions.htm
I hope this will help you a little. one sting from these things might set off an alergic reaction. I'm sure there is alot more info out on the web.Good luck, Ed B :)
