First, I don't agree with Watzzup's response. The so-called Europeans and Asians are South Africans and their right to stay in this country must be protected at all costs. Generalising by calling them "thieves and killers" is disgusting. I hope whoever you are, you shall realise that your racist utterances do not belong to this country. It's also unacceptable to make as if your weird thinking comes from Africans.
To the asker. It all depends. Some issues are matters of perception than reality. Some people don't like each for whatever reason but race. Because we come from a difficult immediate past, we then think we are being disliked because of the colour of our skin. But it's also true that in some instances colour and culture dictates how we relate.
The issue of coloureds not being Black enough while they were not white enough in the past is just nonsense.

I think generally everyone gets along just fine, the coloured people i find usually relate closer to white people than black, they unfortunantly have the unique stigma of during Apartheid , they were not white enough ; and now they are not black enough!! It is a pity that the New South Africa did not truly benefit all the "Previously dissadvantaged peoples " as it promised it would. Indians and blacks also are not(in my experiance anyway)particularly fond of each other as indians tend to treat blacks like slaves still, paying them salaries well below the minimum salary line and subjecting them to long , hard hours . Not one black person i know(and i know many) like Indians.
Depending on what Area you are in contributes to the attitudes of the people, for example in the Cape, Coloureds and whites are often in interracial relationships and so i take this as a good sign that we generally get on well.
It is a simple idea to just accept each others cultural differances in order to get along better !
Oh yes Sexy-n- c has obviously no idea that in South Africa "Coloureds" and " Blacks" are different races all together!!

In reference to wazzzup's answer....
I think that in itself is a racist statement and the last thing that our country needs now. The unofficial "father of our nation" Nelson Mandela found inspiration in the works of an Asian man, Mahatma Gandhi. So I do not think that you are in any position to suggest that the Asians should have been evicted from South Africa. If anything, the Asians contribute greatly to our amazing country's economy. So please, be realistic in your next response....
To answer the initial question, I think that you would need to experience it yourself. It is difficult to tell others how the people in a country live, it is easier to make first hand observations.

I get along with anybody willing to get along with me...
Luckily I'm young and not from a bitter era/past...
I had the opportunity to school and socialize with all races... Thus I continue to hold long lasting friendships/relationships with my Indian, Coloured and White pals...
The 1st and only racism I've ever been victim to was within this forum/category

Do you get along with everyone where you live?
Being white, and living in SA, there are plenty of whites that I can't stand, and wouldn't have in my house: the same goes for any other race group.

Why dont u ask the question...why dont they get along?
There s very few people left in South Africa that was not affected by crime, rape or murder....
Now how can you get along with that staring u in the face every day?
Ps. You become a racist after the above mentioned...
You dont like what you see...and u dont like what you hear...so you just simply dont like them... (see link)

I just love the answer above me referring to the Communist thug Mandela as the Father of the Nation - he should have been hanged for treason. And if she read her history she would see that Ghandi regularly referred to Africans as K rs in written correspondence. Similarly his ex Wife has gotten away with murder and used to be referred to as the mugger of the Nation. To answer your question there is major racial strife in South Africa caused by a racist ANC masquerading as a democratic Government.
