I am doing an essay on 'The Sun' and 'The Daily Telegraph'. I really need to use a few qoutes which have been used to describe either or both of these or about tabloids vs broadsheets in general. I can't seem to find any on the net anywhere. If anyone knows of any good sites inwhich I could find a few that would be great. Thanks : )

Media industry websites and supplements tend to be quite useful for things like these, I recommend doing a search in the following:

http://media.guardian.co.uk/
http://news.independent.co.uk/media/

Also, if your school/college gives you access to news and journal databases do a search through those.

You might also want to look for some of the comment and analysis published during the times that several broadsheets downsized- namely The Guardian/Observer, The Independent and The Times, there you'll find a lot about what makes a "quality" newspaper and how size changes this.

Avoid Wikipedia if you possibly can. You don't know whether what's written is accurate and many academics now advise against using it.

The answer is quite difficult because both papers have changed a lot.. The Sun, which actually gives very little serious news, apparently supports Tony Blair (on the orders of Rupert Murdoch). Their heart does't seem to be in it but they toe the political Party line so tjhat, in my opinon, only an idiiot would believe a word the paper says.

The Telegraph, on the other hand is sitting on the fence to the iron has entered its soul. Yes, it's probably still right wing but it's so boring that after 30 years I have stopped reading it. Where is the trumpet sound for Toryism/ Or anything else for that matter. Lots of fashion pages though. Andre Gimson and Craig Brown are the onoy ones worth reading.
