I was standing in my garden last night having a ciggerette when something caught my eye. I looked up and saw a bright circular light / disk that did a figure eight then shot to the horizon within seconds. I got better things to do than bullshi t people so i wanted to know has anyone else seen this? I live in Dorset, UK.

More than likely it would have been some anomaly generated by the movement of the Earth's crust which can cause light anomalies similar to what you describe, they act in the way that many UFO believers think alien craft are like, which adds more fuel to the alien debate.
Mostly things like this are generally explainable and 70% of things are caused by the Earth itself.

contact the MOD or the coastguard for advice on who to contact.
Helicopters are seen to do this, but maybe your sighting of a ufo moved to fast for one of those.
