David Ortiz. He hit over 50 Home Runs last seasnon knocked in over 100 runs and I figurer when Giambi finally is forced off of steroids, he wil be the shell of the man he is now. Big Papi hands down.

I would have to say Travis Hafner for the Indians. He is a masher at the plate and put up monster numbers last year. Had he not gotten hurt, he would have had a shot at 50 homers, 125-130 RBIs, and the grand slam record. He hits for a high average, draws a lot of walks, and doesn't have a guy like Manny hitting behind him. Yes, Victor Martinez is a good hitter, but pitchers are more willing to pitch around Hafner to pitch to Martinez than they are to pitch around Ortiz and pitch to Manny. I would say Hafner gets less pitches to actually hit than Big Papi, and he makes the most of them (.308 BA, 42 homers, 117 RBIs, .439 OBP, .658 slugging % in 129 games). Compare those numbers to Ortiz's (.287 BA, 54 homers, 137 RBIs, .413 OBP, .636 slugging %) in 151 games. If you give Hafner 22 more games, his numbers would be right up there with Ortiz's if not better.

David Ortiz, no doubt about it. I've seen what he's done to my team the past few years, and it's not even close. I do pick on him for not playing the field, or for letting Manny take a rest and DH occasionally. I will also never be convinced that a DH should win MVP, as MVP should be reserved for players who play defense as well as offense. However, Ortiz is so destructive, and there's no way to pitch him. He can't hit the high fastball and lays off it, which a lot of players can't do. He waits for the low pitches and hammers them. He's come a long way since the days when he used to hit 10 as a Twin.

Travis Haftner. Giambi, Ortiz, and Thomas all put up the numbers. But, Haftner hits for a better average than Giambi. And they are talking about playing Haftner at 1B some this season so that just adds to his value. Travis Haftner.

I would agree on Giambi too. Been that I'm a Yankee fan. However he gets injured way to much. I hate to admit it but it would have to be Ortiz long tirm. But as of late "The Big Hurt" Frank Thomas. I still don't like the Red Sox though.

Well I think it's either Papi or Pronk(Hafner).Pronk hit .308 with 42 HR and 117 RBI and he only played in 129 games. It would be somthing around 50 HR 140 RBI if he had not been hit with the pitch and broken his hand last year.So saying that I give Pronk the #1 slot,Papi in #2 and Giambi in a close 3rd.

Obviously the answer is David Ortiz. 2 reasons.
1. MVP like stats
2. He broke the record for most homers by a DH in a single season

1) Ortiz - all those walk-offs are amazing
2) Hafner - Stud, and only getting better
3) Frank Thomas - still an OBP machine with big power
4) Giambi - Hey, 4th behind those guys is nothing to be ashamed of. If he could get his BA back where it used to be (well over .300), he might rocket up the list.

Big Papi,as much as this die hard Yankees fan hates to admit! He always seems to come up late in the game, game on the line, runners on base. This is a recipe for disaster for the opposing team. Ortiz always seems to get that clutch, game winning, walk off hit!!
