Would online instructors or employers make attractive enough reference writers?

Considering they've never heard my voice, seen me in person, know my personality other than the online personality on discussion boards, etc.?

I would certainly include the online employers but would give their "brick & mortar" addresses. And I would ask your online instructors to write you a letter of recommendation. Once you see the letter, you can decide whether it is something you want to include with your credentials.
