I agree with John D. The Jordan comparisons tick me off, because I've seen most of MJ's career and Kobe isn't on that level yet. From the time he entered the league until his first retirement in 1993 MJ was the best offensive and the the best or second best defensive player (Olajuwon was the best many years) in the league. Kobe is the best offensive player hands down, but on defense he's slightly above average, and average when compared to Jordan.

On top of that he led his team to 6 championships, was a top notch closer, and the most exciting player in the league hands down. And he had a likable persona. Kobe comes as an arrogant prick most of the time and has yet to match MJ's resume. When he does then maybe we can start to compare. Other than that though I think Kobe is a great, great player and I enjoy watching him play.

Everyone is tired or the Jordan comparisons. To everyone over 16 MJ is the greatest player to have every stepped on the hardwood, so to compare anyone to him is insulting. Kobe is great in his own way, but Jordan was better on many different levels. Plus the rape case (although very innocent), snitching on Shaq, dirty playing, ball hogging/selfishness and arrogance doesn't help.

No one hates on his game (except idiots). You'd have to be a fool to think he isn't one of the top 5 players in the game at any position since Jordan left. He is without a doubt the hardest player to defend against since Shaq got old and since Jordan retired.

It's his reputation as being a bad teammate (not passing the ball, public feud w/ Shaq and Malone and others), his overall demeanor on the court (yelling at refs, flopping and yelling every time he gets touched), off of it (a "witchunt"? Please. Refs give him more phantom calls than anyone I've ever seen) and oh yeah, there was that....what was it...a rape accusation?....I think a couple of years back.

It's rediculous how many people think that Kobe or Arenas are ball hogs. As soon as a player starts to amass points and show and incredible talent for scoring under pressure people automatically label them a ball hog. Where would the lakers or Wizards be without Kobe or Arenas........not even close to the playoffs!!

There are players that make the rest of the players around them better and then there is Kobe. He does not make anyone around him better. I have seen a game where some guys on his team can go 4-5 possessions without touching the ball.

I think a lot of people dislike Kobe due to off-court attitude. He is also perceived as selfish on the court.
