Michael P, nfl coaches do that every year at the end of the season, they usually pass it off as resting the starters and preventing injury but that still affects other teams in the standings. It's widely believed that Bill Belichick made his Pats lose the last game of the 06 season so they wouldn't play the Steelers in the first round of the playoffs.

As a player i think steroids like the previous answerer said. As a coach i would have to say throwing a game to get a better draft position or to help another team advance. I believe even if a team is mathmatically out of a playoff position they should still play to win. Assaulting a player is pretty bad too.

i cant say if anyone has done this yet but the worst thing you could do is throw a game on purpose and just screwing up badly so that the other team will win for sure especialy if he beats on the oppiste team too when he does this that would be the all time worst thing a pro could do i think...

BOB KNIGHT, choking kids, throwing chairs, slapping kids.. basically bringing unwanted attention to the school. That is worse then betting..

Isiah Thomas this year, basically telling his team to get over physical if they drive the lane.
