I have had abnormal periods for a number of years while being on the pill. My doctor has recently said I have PCOS. One question I have and hadn't a chance to ask my doctor is that when I'm off my pills, my cycle is completely regular. So does that mean I will still have problems conceiving? Or do I really have PCOS?? It is my understanding that PCOS causes abnormal periods but mine are fine when I'm off the pill.

I have PCOS and I have been having regular periods. Did your Doc take a blood test? You need to have your blood tested for hormone imbalance.

Get your blood tested before you take on having PCOS.

PCOS doesn't always cause abnormal periods & frankly if you feel better with not taking the medication, tell you doc.

PCOS causes cysts to grow & extra hair to grow & insulin resistance, so those are the measurements you should be using to say if you have PCOS, not whether your period works correctly or not.

http://www.pcosupport.org/ is helpful & if you are in the USA, they can probably help you find a doctor who is more knowledgable.

Not everyone with PCOS will have actual irregular periods, but I would recommend checking with your dr to be on the safe side and let them know what you have told us about the pills and your periods.
