The best way is to get a cat, but if you cannot do that, buy mouse traps and put a pungent cheese like provolone or peanut butter and you will get most of the rats. I don't like poison because it is not safe if you have kids. Just be dilligent as it will take a few weeks to get all the critters.

well I would say if your sure it´s rats then you have a big problem . You could set big traps and use Spanish Chorizo sausage or any other kind of strong smelling salami, don´t even bother with the glue, I have seen rats eat there own legs off just to get free see how clever they are . You should really think about getting in the professionals to get rid of them . they cause a lot of damage , eat through the electrical wires could cause a fire . seek help

If you're talking about little mice the traps could work good, but if you're talking about big rats, I would call an exterminator, they're dangerous and unhealthy.

Glue traps are the best method to trap rats and mice.
