You can never be more like yourself than you are

2007-03-23 11:18:19 · answer #1 · answered by cementshroom13 2 · 1 0

You may be able to become more and more like "yourself" by becoming increasingly aware of the things that you hold most dear--the ideas and ideals, your likes and dislikes, and the ways of behaving which you consider to be of the very greatest importance to you.

Then you need to become more aware of whatever there might be that's getting in your way as you strive to adhere to and act upon these things that you cherish--fears, lack of self-confidence, or whatever there may be that's preventing you from a higher degree of self-actualization.

Once you are more thoroughly aware of all these factors, you stand a much better chance of working toward becoming increasingly like your "ideal self."

Very good!! Stopping the mind will help you to peel away all the layers of "civilization" and programming. It will be scarey to your ego, so it will try to stop you--you'll see what i mean as you proceed.

Gradually, you will become empty, and no longer separate. All familiar "connections" and props will disappear. And you will become who and what you truly are.

How to do this? A lot of meditation and "energy work": yoga, tai chi reiki, etc. all help. Also, try this: http://www.sahajayoga.com Work through the site--her energy will help. Also, check out *The Complete Idiot's Guide to Toltec Wisdom*--quite helpful.

I hope that this answer is what you had in mind, since your question is somewhat ambiguous. Anyway, becoming who one truly is, in my context, is always a good idea---pursued by very few, relatively :)) Best of luck.

Some philosophers argue that you could indeed become more like yourself by realising your true self.

I think the basis behind that is the belief that we are constrained by delusions and social constructs and influences which prevent us from acknowledging the reality of our existence.

How this is achieved, is debated. Some say religion, some meditation, some yoga. Carl Jung suggested we would explore our true self in dreams guided by archetypes of our collective unconscious, like the shadow self, the aenima and the animus.

Myself what? what self is there to be more like?
If you look for it you will never find it, how can you find something that's constantly moving?
I think theres something there, but not something stable, absolute. I guess your made up of a bundle of things,
experience, upbringing, ideas, whatever you decide to create about yourself, circumstances etc.
You might be nothing, nothing more then whatever is next to you. Nothing is what you have in common with the world, enjoy the journey and youll be yourself automatically.
By nothing I dont mean nothing in a negative seance, but as that spark of life that youll find everywhere.

You're exactly the way you're supposed to be yourself, but you can close the gap between where you are and where you want to be by focusing on what you want to be, and feeling as though you already have it, and advancing confidently in that direction without a hindrance or doubt.

How are we supposed to tell you how to become you? YOu're you regardless. Don't put on a front and everyone will start to see that.
