How much gas can you save, on an average, if you coast for a typical 6 cylinder car versus a 6 cylinder hybrid.
With the price of gas these days, I would think that a lot of people would be interested in knowing the answer to this

You know what? I don't care! I drive an electric car. It costs me less than a penny per mile to drive around. I bought it used from eBay for only $2000. Here's a link to some other cheap electric vehicles:

Go on mapquest and get directions from Raleigh to San Diego--these should include the exact distance which I'd guess would be about 2500-3000 miles. If you're car only gets 10 miles/gallon that works out to 250-300 gallons of fuel or $500-$600 in gas costs @ $2/gallon each way, not counting food and hotel costs (say $50-$100 per night). Note that flying would almost certainly be cheaper, and definitely much faster--I'm glancing at yahoo travel and they list air tickets from $120 on United on Dec 3rd.
