Shortstuff is exactly right. If you just use a mix of sudsing ammonia and hot water you'll be able to control the mildew. It's really a pretty common problem with front loaders. I also get it under my dryer. But it's usually from moisture that hangs around and not from any design flaw or maintenance problem.

Bleach kills mildew. I would put some on a cloth, sponge,
or old toothbrush and wipe it till its gone, then rinse with
water.

Wash it out with a hot sudsy solution of ammonia.

Take it apart and clean it with diluted bleach.
