if ur not using the proper air filter u are going to seriously pay for it later with an engine rebuild. air filters are designed to get the air as clean as possible to prevent the cylinder walls from gettin messed up from suckin in gunk. do it the right way with the right materials. a engine rebuild will cost u a bundle at the shop. ur bike, ur choice.

i do hope u start using an actual motorcycle air filter and soon. it might be a good idea to start saving up for that engine rebuild that's coming around the corner, and that's a guarnteed not-cheap job.

have u bothered to do an actual stage 1 on the bike instead of jerry riggin in and possibly making the bike unsafe? arlen ness or k&n's are 2 of the more popular air cleaners on bikes other than stock 1's.

use a good quality dual stage air cleaner, use a thin smear of grease on the face of the air cleaner so it seals to the air box properly. clean it every ride and re oil it with proper air cleaner oil and or use filter skins, your bike will love you for it.

K&N filters have never disappointed me, have always added a little 'pep' to my engines, and sometimes even better mpg in my automobiles. Look for yours at the website (I have one on my Harley):

You make have too much oil on your filter. Otherwise use K&N but you make have to tweak the jetting.
