Do not go to a professional piercer for your ear lobes....one of these will work just fine...

Claire's Boutique Upper Level (203) 757-7401

Claire's as a whole will not get you infected...talk to the manager or ask who has had the most experience..Request that they do it. They mainly get infected if they are not taken care of properly.

Your friends are absolutely right, ear piercing with a gun is seriously bad for your ears. The jewellery is forced through with blunt trauma causing bleeding and possible infection, as the guns cannot be autoclaved (safely sterilised) against Hep. c and other bloodborne diseases. Your best bet is to visit your local piercing salon/piercers where your piercer will have completed an apprenticeship and be certified to pierce, which Claire's employees are most definitely not.
Ask on the BME QOD for decent piercers in your area (www.bmezine.com) or check the local phonebook; tattoo parlous will often be able to make a safe recommendation.

You should not get pierced in a mall *AT ALL*. Mall stores such as Claire's, Piercing Pagoda, Icing, etc. give their employees little to no training in ear piercing, and ear piercing guns cannot be completely sanitized. Want to risk getting a blood-borne disease? Then go ahead to one of these places - but if you want to make a smart decision, to go a piercing studio in your area and get professionally pierced with a needle.

clairs is a great place to go to... perhaps the reason the piercings got infected was improper care after it was done... you can check out local jewelers... always make sure the technition uses gloves and the equiptment is clean... ASK THEM!!! AND GET THE INFO ON WHAT TO DO AFTER to care for the piercings... ive got 3 in one and 5 in the other, and only the two first i had done by a pro/ the rest took ice a thick sharp needle and a good bottle of absolut vodka... i dont recommend this for you though... good luck!!!

Your doctor (or any family doctor) should be able to pierce your ears. That is the only completely trustworthy sanitary way to get your ears pierced.
