I HAVE A 1999 MITSUBISHI GALANT 4CY AND THE PROBLEM STARTED OUT AS JUST NOT GETTING HEAT... THE SHOP REPLACED THE HEATING CORE, I REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, AND FILLED COOLANT IN BOTH RADIATOR AND RESERVE... IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE LOSING ANY COOLANT.... BUT DOES SEEM TO BE LOSING OIL.... THE SMOKE IS WHITE COMING OUT OF THE TAILPIPE.... THE ENGINE IS MORE LOUD THAN IT USED TO BE, AND IT GETS HOT, AND MY HEAT WILL NOT BLOW HOT AIR... WHAT IS WRONG???

It is probably an antifreeze leak. Look for green liquid on the ground under the car and see if you can find the leak. If its not a leak then it might be your water pump. It might not be working properly. Even if you have enough antifreeze in the car, if you have a bad water pump, your car will overheat. The water pump flows the hot antifreeze into the radiator to be cooled down then it goes back in the engine and recirculates. The water pump is a very important part of the engine cooling process aside from having the right amount of antifreeze in the engine. I wouldn't worry about getting heat in your car right now. The main concern is the engine overheatingn problem.

But my theory is that the reason you might not be getting heat to the cabin is one of two reasons. One is that you might have a bad a/c blower motor. A blower is a type of fan that circulates to blow hot or cold air into the car. Replace the blower motor if that is the case. If its not the blower motor then you might have the heat blocked off. There are bottons on your dash that you can control to produce either cold or hot air. What that basically does is move a door (in essence). If the door, which should be located really close to your heater core, is not pointing in the right direction it might not be letting the heat get into the car. It could be blocking the heat off and just letting in cold/vent air into the car. If that is the case replace the "door" or replace the cables that link it to your controls on the dash. That should fix the problem.

Yep if drops of water are coming out then you blew a head gasket which is allowing water into your oil and steaming off out the tailpipe. Dont drive it until you can get it to a mechanic who is VERY close to your house.

it sounds like you have a blown head gasket,a good way to check is to remove your radiator cap,(when cold)and look for oil drops,or pull your oil dipstick, and look for moisture,if it is blown it will more than likely look like cream on your dipstick instead of black oil.
