The team that makes the most sense, in terms of interest in Carr, should be Oakland, where there is no proven starter, although the Raiders seem inclined to use the first overall selection in the draft next month on LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Trading for Carr would provide the Raiders with the kind of strong-armed, vertical-game passer owner Al Davis has long favored and would dramatically alter the dynamic of first round.

If the Raiders acquired Carr and scrapped their plans to choose Russell, Oakland could snatch the draft's best player, Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson, with the top pick. And in addition to scrambling mock drafts around the country, not to mention the real draft, it would give Oakland a proven commodity at the game's most critical position. No matter what Carr's failures in Houston, he is still further along in his development than untested and raw Russell.

Rumor is that Raiders coaches and scouts are beyond smitten with Johnson and view him as the surest thing in the talent pool. Plus, choosing him at the top of the draft also would allow Oakland to trade troublesome wide receiver Randy Moss. But it doesn't make sense to take Johnson unless you have a quarterback to get him the ball, and Carr would have a shot. And wasn't the Raiders' new coach and resident wunderkind Lane Kiffin an offensive guru of sorts during his tenure at Southern California? And one more intriguing note: Kiffin and Carr have some history together, as Kiffin was a coach at Fresno State during Carr's first two years there.

If the Raiders were smart they would take Calvin Johnson with the first pick of the draft. At 6'5", 230 lbs. he ran a 4.35 sec. 40. With those stats alone, he is better than most receivers in the NFL. Plus, JaMarcus Russell is unrefined. Sure he's got the arm strength, but he lacks accuracy. He has trouble completing those 3rd and 5 short routes. Carr is already used to NFL defenses and if he has a O-line that will give him time to get the ball to Johnson, he won't have any trouble doing so. Calvin Johnson is by far the best player in the draft and to let him slip by, the Raiders would make a huge mistake.

Ive been saying that the Raiders will pick Clavin Johnson #1 all the way. Al Davis doesnt give a f*ck what anyone else thinks and hell draft who he wants. I like the Carr deal to the Raiders with Kiffin there but I also like the Raiders getting Dante Caulpepper from the Dolphins. Right now his price is at its lowest and potential is very high. Plus hed be reunited with Moss which could pick up both of their careers. Either way mark my words Johnson is the #1 pick. I can see it now Moss, Johnson starting and Porter in the slot.... and with LaMont Jordan, Rhodes, and Griffith in the backfield once they beef up their OL in the draft they will have a great offense. Plus Carr was just released so the Raiders dont even have to give anything up for him. I think they will sign him low and make him compete with walters or caulpepper whoever they sign.

A great idea, picking up Carr (where he knows he will be a starter) and then being able to draft an amazing talent in calvin johnson would be a great start for the failing Oakland franchise. The only other thing that needs to be done is improve their line. I believe Carr can suceed in Oakland if only they can beef up their O-Line a little. Otherwise its Houston all over again.

I never thought Russell was ever "in" Oakland to begin with. I think they will either get Carr or Culpepper as their QB and w/o a doubt take Johnson #1 overall. Even if they get stuck w/ Moss for another year, that'll probably be it for him in Oakland. If Moss gave a solid effort, Johnson ends up living up to the hype, the o-line improves, and they get Carr or Culpepper (a lot I know), the Raiders should be a pretty solid team next year. Oh, and their defense needs to have another solid year as well.

I think Carr would most likely wind up in Miami, Detroit or Cleveland, whichever one doesn't take Brady Quinn...The only way he goes to the Raiders is if they are planning on taking Calvin Johnson...maybe even Chicago, since half the fans are calling for Grossman's head...Early reports are saying Miami might be interested in Carr...

If Kiffin does not take Carr, what does that say about his impression of him. I still don't know why everyone thinks Carr has any potential. Yes his line was really bad, but he lacked any leadership qualities other than outright begging his line for protection.

No matter where Carr goes this season. he will be benched by midseason.

have u seen the raiders o-line? theyre just as bad as houstons o-line. if they pass on Russll and get CJ and Carr whos feet arernt that quick they'll go 1-15 in 2007. Get Russell build a team around him and the Raiders might be good in a few years.

That is a possible and great scenario, but Carr would want to go to a team with a great OLines. And before drafting C.J
they would need to trade their WR, Randy Moss. I don't see him going anywhere.
I think this is a great and possible scenario, but if there is a surprise, it would be trading the pick, or picking Quinn

i think of the Raiders will finally end up drafting WR Calvin Johnson. that is not that Al Davis might like Johnson over Russell. Media comments propose Davis needed Leinert final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days & blames artwork Shell for the selection of Michael Huff over Leinert. i'm guessing Al Davis needs Russell. yet I agree that there are different QBs in this draft that the Raiders ought to take later (Drew Stanton, Trent Edwards, Kevin Kolb) who might not be as various a bust threat as Russell. The Raiders' ultimate selection could be to commerce down a pair spots in hopes of having Brady Quinn, as helpful a ingredient at QB as any participant in this draft. all of it might come right down to if the Raiders come across a identifying to purchase and merchandising important different for Randy Moss and/or Jerry Porter. in the event that they do, then they might legitimately take Johnson for a "team prefer." So do not touch that dial! ;) interior the tip, i don't think of they arrive across a commerce down that they like, they commerce one in each of their disgruntled WRs, and take Johnson.

Yeah! It worked for the Texans! Oh yeah. It didn't. Carr doesn't need to another team with a pathetic O-line. 249 sacks in 5 years. If he goes to Oakland he might die of head trauma in the middle of the field.
