Cry Freedom. It's with Denzel Washington. It's about South African Apartheid, and Steven Biko.

Try "Amistad". The whole film is a court trial about whether a group of slaves who revolted while crossing the Atlantic should be granted their freedom. Some horrifying scenes included as flashbacks provide the best-filmed look at the slave passage ever put to film. Stars Matthew McConaughey, Anthony Hopkins, and Morgan Freeman.

Other option: "The People Vs. Larry Flynt". Again, mostly a court trial, this time over freedom of speech, and freedom of the press. The movie is a semi-autobiographical look at the rise to fame of Larry Flynt, publisher of Hustler Magazine. Stars Woody Harrelson and Courtney Love.

"Amazing Grace" in theaters now is an excellent and educational movie that is about the true story of William Wilberforce/a British Diplomat who took on the 18th century England Parliament to stop the import of slave cargo from Africa to Britain. This movie has great acting and a great story! It should be worthy of that essay to go and see!Enjoy!

These are not your traditional 'Freedom' movies, but 'Midnight Express' and 'Papillon' are very good movies about some cats who are trying to gain their 'freedom'.

Braveheart has a great quote about freedom in it.
