im trying to find this book it was written by an african girl who became a model..?? does anyone know?

my aunt told me about this book and she dosent remember the title or author's name...i think the woman wrote it herself....ummm and she became a model around iman's career time.....she lived in a village where the women were badly mistreated and arranged in marriages.....which is why her mother told her to run away....ummm she had to travel through a desert for days without food and water....does the story sound familiar to anyone??

dont say tyra banks because she is NOT AFRICAN ....this woman was born in africa .....

I didn't read the book, but it sounds like it could be Desert Flower written by Waris Dirie. She also talks about having gone through the awful female cirmcumcision that's common where she's from in Somalia. I've seen pictures of her, she's really beautiful.
