I have always used playtex with no problems, but recently we had to buy tampax because the store was out of playtex. Which do you think is more comfortable and useful? With tampax I always feel like I might leak...

Also, whenever I'm on my period, and I change my tampon, I notice that one side of the tampon has absorbed everything all the way down to the string but some of the other side of the tampon is still white and unused.
Is this ok? And does it happen to you?

And have any of you girls out there disliked tampax pearl for any reason??

thanks in advance

platex gentle glid are a lot better than tampax pearl. i find they are very cheap looking, and the platex absorbes a lot more.
tampax claims to have all these nice features, but the braided string comes apart very easily, and some are even already apart. it's like a 5 year old braided them together.

I prefer Playtex gentle glide over Tampax because they absorb differently

Playtex goes into a blooming shape - it spreads out horizontally.
Tampax does not do that. It swells up lengthwise.
I tried tampax once and found it uncomfortable and more likely to leak.

As far as being absorbed on one side: That happens usually when it is not placed correctly. That takes a little practice and is easier with Playtex.

The absorbency issue is because that's the side resting closest to your cervical opening...perfectly normal.

As for preference, well I've used Playtex Gentle Glides and didn't like them. I've not tried the Pearls. I also have used OB (applicator-less) and Tampax flushable applicators. Didn't like either of them.
I now use Kotex Security and I only use the Regulars. Supers are WAY too absorbent and the Slims are not enough so.

Good luck.

I haven't tried Playtex gentle glide or Tampax pearl. I always use Kotex and sometimes one side is used and the other side dry. Sometimes my periods are too heavy for even a super tampon and I always use a panty liner on those days.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT get Playtex, I took the string out of one, (thats not supposed to happen) cause I was looking and the string looked loose, and I took it out no problem where, but in tampax pearl, the string is sowed all the way through the tampon so you know your safe!

My daughter prefers tampax pearls so that is what I pick up for her. I was always a Kotex person myself. It is not unusual for one side to absorb all of the menstrual flow and the other side to be dry. You should not feel like your tampon is going to leak. If you feel that way try a different brand or go to a high absorbency while your period is heavier.
