Or is it a violation of the marriage promise to deny your spouse sexual intercourse.

Opinions?

Get a divorce if you are not happy. Do not think you have a license to sleep with someone else because you are not satisfied with your sex life. Have you considered discussing this with your spouse?

I think that there is more to your story than meets the eye, to give you an answer, I do not play games like that, and sex is very much a "part" of my marriage. It is not a duty.

I don't know if I would call it a "violation of the marriage promise" (somehow I just don't think that "I shall give my spouse sex" is part of the vows), but it's definitely a problem when the spouses are not compatible in some important way - be it sex, finances, religion, or a number or other things. It is certainly possible to not have sex and still have a good marriage - but only if both spouses are ok with the situation.

It is not a violation of the marriage. The problem you will have is that the more you pressure, the more the other party will feel obligated. Do you really want someone putting out, just out of duty? Wouldnt you rather have someone sleeping with you that wants to?

When my marital problems began way back when, the first place unhappiness showed up was in our sex life. How can you want to sleep with someone who constantly makes you feel bad and puts you down?

I did not get married for cheap and meaningless sex. If you have issues in your marriage deal with them and in time after fixing communication or the other issues, your sex life will improve.

But by no means never make anyone feel guilty for not giving up the booty, that will backlash at you something fierce.

According to the bible...your wife's body belongs to you and yours to her. It means that you are supposed to make yourself available to each other. I am not a religous fanatic but really belief at the core that if you had a deeply spiritual connection with your wife, this wouldnt be happening. Is she holding out on purpose? Could there be a mediacl reason why she wont have intercourse? Rather than concentrate on whether it's a violation maybe you should concentrate on how to recreate a loving sexual relationship. You took a vow to be with her thru sickness and health, and if this your only major complaint, i think Yes, you should stay married to your wife.

It can be grounds for divorce in the few states that don't have no-fault divorce. But a man forcing his wife to have sex is rape, pure and simple. Are they no longer married if one spouse refuses to have sex? No, that's not true. But if this happens over a long period of time, to they have a "real" marriage? Probably not (unless you get to that point where neither party wants to have sex anymore... heh.)

This is obviously a very vague question. Was sex denied once? For a week? For a year? Maybe you should try and talk to your wife and find out WHY she doesn’t want to have sex with you. If you love your wife then you would think instead of thinking about yourself you would try and find out the root of the problem and work together to fix your sex life.

Sex is not a requirement of marriage. What if your spouse becomes medically disabled? There are instances that it does happen and the marriage is kept intact.

It's still a marriage only if both people are happy and have respect for each other.
I don't think denying sex shows either ONE of those!
