If you believe the invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq is right and just, how come you aren't over there fighting yourself? Is it OK to send kids and back-doored reservists while you sit in your comfy chair in your comfy house, watching your TV and going to the mall? How do you justify that?

Wow, between the thinly veiled guilt, mindless rhetoric and overt stupidity I don't even know where to begin.

Methinks some folks "doth protest too much." From the way people are responding to this question, it would seem like all the war supporters are either (1) already in Iraq, (2) very elderly, or (3) handicapped. I think we know that's just not a representative sample of Americans who support the war in Iraq. The truth is, there are a lot of Americans who really dig the idea of putting boots in arses in Iraq, as long as they don't have to be the ones wearing that pair of boots. And those same people will put alot of words in the mouths of soldiers about how great and moral the war is. The fact is, alot of Americans are dying not because everyone over there believes in this war (some do), but because alot of people got snookered by recruiters before the war even began into thinking the military was a ticket to the GI Bill and Easy Street. A whole bunch of folks joined the National Gurard to be... National Guardsmen. This war is not defending my freedom of speech or anyone else's. I have no clue how ~600,000 dead Iraqi civilians, a dead petty dictator, and a bunch of corrupt petty bureaucrats in Iraq, etc. were such a huge threat to my (or your) freedom of speech. Instead of chanting empty catch-phrases, I wish folks would think more about the implications of their words and the wars they advocate. Supporting "the troops" means that the troops should be able to trust the civilian population of the US not to let them be sent to experience the violence of a war, be maimed, and maybe even die for nothing, or even for the wealth of a few. It would be interesting to see how quickly hawks would become doves if a draft were instituted. I guess the president's children (and lots of others) are just too good to have to fight? Too busy being debutantes? What?

I can not go over there due to the 50% disability I left the USAF with. While I would not wish my children to be there in my stead, it is only because they are both under 10. I truly believe that without this struggle, the world as we know it would change... and not for the better. My children are both girls. I do not want my children living in a world where their rights are suppressed simply due to dogmatic principles. This belief very much mirrors the beliefs held in the 40's when parents did not want their children subjected to the rule of a madman who believed that one person was better than another. The US Military is a volunteer force. We were all aware of what could be expected of us when we joined. To argue that the ones who did not join are lesser human beings is below contempt. I pity you.

I have physical conditions that prevent me form joining the military. My dh is now too old for enlistment. He would have joined straight out of high school if they had been willing to offer him a 6 year or 4 year contract instead of 12.
We'd be there right now if we could. We know people who have been there and come back. And, we know people who have been there, come back, and gone back there again.
Our life is not cushy. We don't have stuff that others have just because we choose to live under our income level. We don't have th pleasures most Americans have beacuse our income level doesn't support that stuff.

I don't understand. Are you for or against this war? And aren't you sitting in a comfy chair in your comfy house typing away on your computer like it means something instead of protesting day after day on the White House lawn like those that truely oppose it? And for your information, I would go, but I have health problems and the government won't allow me to go.

Ignorant
***I'm sure many people would like to have the opportunity to serve so that our country can continue to live the lives that we have grown accustom to. However, many people, including myself, are physically incapable of serving. I say that you are ignorant, due to the fact that you are jumping to the conclusion that everyone that supports our troops are just letting them do the "dirty" work, while we sit back and watch them die. That is not true. I am not saying that I totally agree w/ the prolongated duration of the Iraq war, however, I fully support what the men and women that CHOSE to serve and protect your country are doing. They CHOSE to serve, and are doing it without complaint. Do they want to be in Iraq? Probably not, but they do it for you and me. They do it to make our lives better. They do it because they love the country that they come from and they want their children to grow up having what they have had. Many lives have been sacrificed for YOUR freedom.
Are you over there? No? I am to assume that you do not support the war, but are enjoying your freedom?? Is that correct? I'm sure you will argue back, and that is your constitutional right. Have at it big shot.
***By the way, you obviously are uneducated as far as what ignorant means. Please read up on this to better educate yourself:
ig·no·rant
–adjective 1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
3. uninformed; unaware.
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.

I don't recall saying I supported Iraq in any way. I did say "That
all our presidents should be shipped to either fight or serve food". Our troops should've been pulled out when it was obvious that Bush didn't know what he was doing. I don't care who replaces him! JUST REPLACE HIM WITH ANYONE!!!

I would be glad to go if I wasn't too old. I would also be proud if my son were there. Every soldier I've ever seen interviewed is proud to be over there fighting for your right to express yourself just like you did here. Remember, our armed forces are volunteers. No one forced them to sign up.
