does it make sense to be "humbled" by getting an award...it doesn't seem like something that makes sense.....just clear that up...

uhh no that would make you gain pride, u would be humbled by having the award taken away or u could humble someone else by getting the award

yes... receiving an award is humbling... because it is an honor.... an honor that could have also gone to someone else. Not only does it stir up a sense of pride in you for winning one... and having your hard work acknowledged,... receiving the award keeps us humbled, because so many factors are involved that could have easily swayed/influenced the award into another recipient's hands. Pat yourself on the back, but know that it still takes hard work to get it in the first place.

The greatest people I have met have always been very humble and quick to see the merit in others. That is why a person who is very deserving of a reward may feel humble, realising how well others around him might have merited it and being quite surprised that he should have been honoured instead.

It is an expression of modesty. You realize how important the award is, are honored by it, but make no claim that your own importance is so great.

I would not use that word; I'd say "honored", which is more correct and quite suitable. Partly, that is me; there is nothing that makes me feel humble.
