Rather weird behaviour from someone who should be pulling their weight at work!! Leave her alone, completely ignore her and do your portion of the work. Do not imitate her behaviour but be your usual, cheery self. After a while when she sees that her moodiness has no effect on you, she will come round and come and talk to you.

I was in a similar situation with a colleague and after about 2 months of the silent treatment, she came on her own and started talking to me again. Now we are friends again, well, I am not one to hold a grudge...!

You could catch her off hours, to her self. Ask her what her problem with you is. She will never admit it, actually it's the only way that she can feel important is to tear someone else down.

Another thing, file a grievance, go through established procedures...if you think it won't cause more of a problem for you.

You could start treating her like she treats you, too. When she kicks your dog, bite her cat. Maybe she will see that you are not to be intimidated and stop.

Finally, kill her with kindness. Be nice to her in spite of herself. This would be passive resistance. Just ignore her and bide your time. This is the hardest, most disciplined response though. Every wounded animal cries out when it hurts.

Just remember, every job has one or more of those type co-workers. They're everywhere, and usually in high places. Tread carefully.

Hm. Been there. I would be honest with her and say you're sorry there is no longer a friendship between the two of you, but you each have to "carry" your own load at work, and she needs to face that very real - reality of the workplace. If she merely gets more vile, tell her to her face: YOU TRIED. Write her off and IGNORE her as much as you can with class and dignity.

This is one time you may just need to blow her off and carry on with your work and ignore her, though I'd like to think she MIGHT just listen to you. Don't be upset if she doesn't, recognize you tried and it didn't work and it may be she truly is, the real problem here.

You made the situation and now when you decided you were tired of it and changed it she got angry.

What did you expect?

You will have to ride out the storm now or go back to doing everything.

Did you learn a lesson out of this?

Stay totally unemotional about her, and ask her to please quit wasting time gossiping and pull her own weight around the office.

If I were you I would not pay any attention to her at all.
