Yes, you should help your son. I know that people have answered already, but your son will want an explanition (if not, you should give one to him anyway)

Facts
He has 41 cookies
He has 5 friends
Each friend gets the same ammount
He has 11 left
Just to get technical for a sec, you can set up an equation for this
41 cookies = 5 friends * ammount of cookies per friend + 11 for himself or 41=5x+11
Now he can rearrange it to 41-11=5x = 30=5x = x=6

Now verbally.
He has 41 cookies. He took 11 for himself in the end. So there are 30 to go around for his 5 friends. Simple division gets you 6 per friend.

I would hope that my hard work would pay off as a best answer.

*This is how- 1. John had saved 11 cookies for himself, right? So you do 41-11, = to 30.
2. 30 divided by 5 is 6. Each of his friend recieved 6.

6 cookies

ok John baked 41 cookies
he took out 11 for himself
that leaves 30 cookies to distribute among his friends
if each friend gets the same amount u would have 2 divide 30 by 5 which equals 6

41-11=30 (the number after you take the 11 for himself)

41-11 = 5X
total cookies minus John's 11 (that he is giving to me! as I have a gallon of milk!))= same amount 5 friends

41-11 = 5X
30 = 5x....divide by 5
