After all these years I am staggered why Hip Hop is still popular. Yes there are some good sounds but why isn't there a new movement out there? Could it be advertisment executives feel this is still 'radical' so lets put a sound track to our advert? I think it just gives a stagnent tedious view of American music tastes. Change the record!

hip hop is currently because no movement or changes have come to our society. like in the 30s it changed from slow music to crazy loud music cause the amount of poor people who couldnt afford go to a club so they just jammed to the radio fast songs which usually came on at that time. so if a big change comes to our society and i mean really big not like the iraq war more like usa loses war usa goes banktrupt black people go back to africa not a racist just saying. or arabs kicked out of america. ur probaly like what is he talking about how does arabs relate and the war relate but it is actually one of the biggest influences on music. economy, gov, race, and etc. take a secound thing about it. by the way when you hear hip hop it is usually the beats that you look foward too not the lyrics at first. but as u like hip hop more and more you like the lyrics and how to kill cops and steal cars and that is what influences u. so if you want to destroy hip hop take away the beat and trust me nobody will listen to it.

I am not a fan of the hiphop/rap music that is overplayed here in the States with the exception of when I go out dancing. I listen to a lot of world music and jazz tho.

Personally, I absolutely HATE hip hop! Unfortunately, my workplace rotates stations, and hip-hop is one of the genres....Gawd, what a load of garbage!

If they aren't talking about booty or bling, they're stealing from older, better songs. It's not music to my ears at ALL!

I totally agree. I never would have guessed Rap/Hip Hop would still be around. I hated it when it was new, and now it's just downright annoying. I thought it was a fad.

I guess I was wrong. What a shame. It's not that I cannot accept it as art..... I just don't think it is real music.

Hip hop is good, that's why it's still around. American tastes are anything but stagnant, it's not as if hip hop is the ONLY thing people listen to.

I totally agree.
It's the most unimaginative of all the styles of music.
And why is there such a desire to condone aggression, misogyny, homophobia, and gun crime?
