they are as much a product of the same things that cause white people to racially profile people of color.

our society has been bombarded with the ideal that people of color are criminals, monsters etc for a very long time.

because those ideals are pushed so much people started to believe them...even the people that those images where about.

Goldenbrowngod has a great point - to add to it, people of color and people of no-color at all grew up in the same society, and share the same values.

I think that we should get away from your-people and my-people mentality. There is a different way of seeing this whole matter.

Although two people might have a different skin color, they sure can think the same darn way. I know this because I teach English and I read peoples' papers and hear their opinions.

I have noticed that lifestyle and economics divides people more than skin color.

So a concept of profiling their own, in that sense, is moot.

It all goes back to one person. Willie Lynch. He was a white man during slavery who would go and teach other plantation owners how to break their slaves. One of the main things he advise was to pit slave against slave and to take the dominant black male slaves and sell them. When you take the male out of the slave home the women tend to want to protect their children from the same fate. Therefore the women taught their children to be docile and compliant. Anyone who tried to revolt were turned in by thier own people for fear of retaliation from "master". That has trickled down into society today but now it's a "I will get mine before you get yours mentality". Instead of working together as a group to advance us we pit one against the other. That is Willie Lynch's legacy to the black population.
