I don't think that either being a "cheerleader " for Bush or not has anything to do with being a patriot. A patriot believes that his or her country is the greatest, and wants to help it get even better. There is plenty of room in this country for conversation, and disagreement. We just need to be more civilized about it. The hatefulness needs to go.

no, especially if one is only cheerleading to be a patriot. I think the best way to become a patriot is to be able to stand up for and defend what you believe in. I'm not saying I'm for or against the president, all I'm saying is that the ability to protest and speak your mind, is the whole purpose of what this country is based on.

The issue isn't being a cheerleader for one President or another. I was no fan of Clinton, but I always praised him when he took military action against our enemies. He simply didn't take a hard enough line against them. Bush takes a harder line, but sometimes even he doesn't go far enough.

no I believe being a patriot means supporting your country not the president. I mean after all he is just a man. He makes the same mistakes as the rest of us. He just gets paid alot more to act like the mistakes were on purpose, by the way maybe we should doc his pay cause hes not doing a good job of acting

No, it would make him a cheerleader... being a cheerleader doesn't have anything to do with patriotism.

No--loving your country makes you a patriot.
And one reason to love it is the ability to criticize the regime without fear of imprisonment or worse.
Many Americans take that for granted, but in plenty of countries you would be shot for criticizing the leader.

No but lying and saying that everything he says is a lie of wrong without any other proof makes you a dissident and a subversive enemy of the state.

No, to blindly follow is not patriotic. Patriotisim is used by some as a tool in order to avoid awkward questions which would otherwise be asked.
