"The French call April 1 Poisson d'Avril, or "April Fish." French children sometimes tape a picture of a fish on the back of their schoolmates, crying "Poisson d'Avril" when the prank is discovered."

I don't know why it would be a english question, but in France The first of April (April Fools Day) is called Fish Day. All the children cut out paper fish and try to stick it to someone's back without them noticing (like kids do with "kick me" notes in the States). It is just one of those silly things.

In France the equivalent of an April Fool is a Poisson d'Avril. I suggest that this is what you are looking for - someone gullible who is fooled on April 1st.!

Do you perhaps mean "poisson d'avril," or the French equivalent of "April Fool's Day?"
Pranks and jokes are pulled.

Poisson, of course, is the French word for "fish."
