In two games Thursday night, the refs called fouls with less than 10 seconds left. What happened at the line greatly affected the outcome of each game. Refs should never call a foul at the end of the game unless the player is clearly hacked, but this was not the case. Those calls took the game out of the hands of the players. Does anybody agree with me or am I full of crap?

The job of the referee is "simple"; it is to make the calls that are seen. That applies at all times on the court. Last seconds of close games do not afford an exception to this. Think of it the other way, your best scorer shoots and misses a potential game-winner, but he is hit on the arm. Are your fans going to say that the ref should not influence that?

it depends on how the refs called the entire game. As long as there is consistency throughout the game then players should know what they can get away with.

If they refs are letting them play and body check then its obvious when a ticky-tack foul is called... but if they called those fouls throughout the game then the refs can't be blamed. The refs usually get it right. They are human and they are going to make mistakes so it is up to the team put themselves in a position where it doesn't come down to one call.

first of all ur not full of crap. cuz that has happened to me at a couple of times during my tournament agaisnt our #1 team that we can't stand. plus if there is 10 seconds left in the game the refs should just let us play anyway the reason why they r going to call a foul on u is because they r getting paid to call those fouls doesn't matter how stupid the foul is. all that matters is if u win.

The game I watched mostly was the Memphis game. What stood out the most to me was...

Texas AM misses a lay up in which a foul could have been called, yet the next possesion for Memphis results in a 3 point play on a touch foul.

Could care less who won, but the officials need to be more consistent.

No I don't think that they are deciding the fate of games. Look at dallas Dirk is not getting the easy calls this year that he has enjoyed for the last 3 years. The refs have decided that he is going to get bumped and they aren't going to make the calls. If you don't believe me just look at how many technicals he has this year for argueing a call. and dallas is still winning.

i think the memphis game wasnt just the foul, it was how much time they took off the clock after the inbounds pass, the tv announcers said it should have only been about .1 or .2 seconds taken off the clock instead of 1.1. I think that made TAMU have to change what they were going to do and messed them up.

and im guessing ur talking about college basketball.
