Its not a state.

If it get a seat than why not let the Virgin Island and Puerto Rico seats too?

Does what the Constitution say matter? Should the Constitution be amended then let them vote in congress or do we just pretend it says something it doesn't?

"Puerto Rico" is not even a word according to Yahoo's spell check.

The argument for is that while the senators represents states, the House represents people. Therefore, the supporters want to add a seat to give the people of DC a true voice in congress. To appease those that say its a ploy to add a seat for Democrats, they have also offered to add a seat in Utah (heavily voted Republican). I do agree with one supporting argument...."We are fighting for democracy in the Middle East, but will not give it to the citizens of DC"

The district has a non-voting seat. The constitution does not allow for them to have representation except for local and national elections, i.e. presidential elections. If the congress gives the district a voting representative why not 2 senators also?

it is not because they do not have a seat in the full congress, only in votes to end debate and move the resolution to vote. Of course, I agree with you that it is wrong, and quite frankly, I do not even think that DC should have any votes in the Electoral College.

What I would support, however, is forcing all our terrs. to choose once and for all to become states or forever be severed from the USA.
