Last year I had a duck lay eggs in my front yard under a bush. They would fly at you and the kids were scared to go out side. I have seen a male and female duck around lately and I am worried they are going to lay eggs again. Ist there any way to prevent them from doing so?

i would be pleased if a duck layed eggs in my yard,
just spend more time out in the yard and they most likely wont want to be out there with the "humans at play" tell the kids to not be afraid and run after them and scare them away, they shouldnt hurt them...

Ducks return to where they were born to lay eggs. Call your state conservation office or whatever they call it in your state, they will come and get them. Ducks can, and will attack a dog or cat, or even you if they feel threatened, especially when they are nesting. They may just nip you for a warning, but will flog you with the spurs on their wings if they are really threatened. Keep your kids away from them if they are nesting.

Try a borrowing a bird dog. If you have a friend with a hunting/herding dog, dog sit for a few weeks 'til the duck gets the idea it doesn't belong there.
