Vista has an easy transfer utility which will transfer ALL or some of your settings, user id's, documents, email and customizations to your new computer. Worked great for multiple users when I did it

I assume you will be getting Vista.......Get a USB hard drive that is at least 40GB. Run the utility on your new system and load the easy transfer software onto the drive so you can run it on the old computer. The utility will collect all your stuff into a singe file..........when it finishes, open that file on your new computer and it will restore that stuff to the system and then reboot and you are ready to go.

Keep in mind that the utility doesn't delete anything, it only makes a copy.......before you throw the old computer out, wipe it (not just formatting) with a secure wipe utility. just about Anyone can unformat a disk in a few minutes. You can get a free one at http://dban.sourceforge.net/ which will wipe your system to Department of Defense specifications...no one will be able to get your personal information.

There are many ways. If you want you can remove the harddrive and place it in your new computer to copy the files over. Or, if you have a router you can connect both computers to it and set up a network to share files.

Currently I have a old computer I use to download overnight set up next to me. I download through the night and transfer the finished files in the morning to my new rig so I can let it rest. You can also use an external hard drive if you have the money for it to back up the files and transfer it over.

There are many ways..But these 3 are the most efficient if you don't want to constantly burn a ton of cd's.

You can also use USB flash drives to transfer files. Or if you have an ipod you can use that as well. The bigger the ipod the better. They can hold more data the CD's (dvd's as well depending on the ipod).

I recently with thought that mess (burning cds) when I decided to dump my hard drive. I think I'm going to get an external harddrive to start backuping my pictures and music. You can also buy jump drives not up to a 2 gig (maybe more). You might try that.

Yes, you can upload your pictures to a website and then download them to your new computer. You might be able to do it with MySpace, or other such sites, or even your email. If you do it using email, all you need to do is attach the pictures to an email sent to yourself.

Get a flash drive.

I got a 2GB one for under £15. Quicker than burning everything to a disc.
