for acne SCARS I recommend using anything with cocoa butter on it .. or vitamin E oil. Right now I am using the Vit. E oil and i noticed a BIG difference. It takes awhile as mine were old, but I really like it. I use it at night on weekdays and on weekends I use it in the morning and at night. Put it on like 30 mins. (or earlier) (after you wash your face) before you go to bed.
Heres what I use: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=101005&navAction=jump&navCount=1&id=prod711
*to use: take a q-tip and dip it in the bottle and put some over the scar. NOT ALOT cause its thick. You want just enough for it to soak into your skin.
For scars there is also this: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100592&navAction=jump&navCount=2&id=prod1336694

For actual ACNE; I recommend AcneFree .. I tried this before and I really love it.
http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100303&navAction=jump&navCount=4&id=prod1181996 (for regular acne)
http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=304172&navAction=jump&navCount=4&id=prod2672511 (severe acne)
http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100303&navAction=jump&navCount=4&id=prod2247601 (I also LOVED the terminator! For when I broke out in a zit .. you just dab a little on and you can tell it gets smaller by the next day)
http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100751&navAction=jump&navCount=4&id=prod2560824 (they also have a cleanser)
**If nothing else works (as with other answers) I would recommend going to a dermatologist. I went and he proscribed be Retin-A-Micro and now I only break out here and there, hardly ever. I havent gone yet for my scars but I will be soon. But for now I just use the Vitamin E Oil.
Hope that helped!

Most people affected by acne are aged between 12 and 25. The most common areas affected by body acne are the neck, shoulders, and back. Science and medical research have done a lot of studies and established a number of theories on what the real causes of acne are. The real and main causes of acne are hormone imbalance, water retention and toxins.
Most herbal remedies for acne are completely safe and effective for various skin types. The common antibiotics for treatment of acne are minocycline, doxycycline and tetracycline. The psychological aspects of acne are often down played, and the condition is considered "merely cosmetic" and not a true disease. The classic symptoms of acne are the result of an overproduction of secum by the sebaceous glands, which often starts around the time of puberty.
Please remember that no treatment will completely cure your acne. The main aim of the treatment of acne is to prevent new spots appearing on the skin. However, advances in laser treatment have made it possible to remove scars and now is being used to treat acne worldwide. We know more today than ever before about the treatment of acne. Remember that it can take 3-6 weeks to see any improvement after beginning treatment for acne.
Everybody's skin is different and the causes of acne are different, so naturally the treatments also must be different. Adults with acne are also less likely than teens to seek treatment for their acne, leaving them to suffer alone. Whether natural or medical methods of controlling acne are better will depend on your particular situation. All but the most severe grades of acne are controllable although not curable. Vitamin A for natural acne, niacinamide for acne and zinc for acne are clinically proven to be best effective vitamins for acne. The key to approaching acne treatment is an understanding that the outward vestiges of acne are manifestations of internal imbalance.

A face wash and moisturizer containing glycolic acid can help a lot. I personally like Bare Esscentuals. Other options are micro dermabrasion and laser treatments. You can also use products designed to reduce scars.
