when i installed windows xp on my computer the@ key and " are crossed and carnt work out why.

where did you buy the puter and what brand is it? my sister in law has the same problem with an acer she bought from tigerdirect

Two suggestions:

One, make sure your language setting is set for English [United States]. (Control Panel: Click on "Date, Time, Language and Regional Options")

Two, if that doesn't address it, see this: http://www.lockergnome.com/nexus/news/2004/08/02/remapping-keys-in-windows-2000-and-xp/ which touches on how to set any key to do anything you want...

Mine is the same i have tryed changing it to english keyboard and USA but still they are in the wrong place.. I also havent got the English pound sign anywhere on my keyboard.

that happened at work my @ is where the 2 is and ive lost the £ sign after after installing software
dont know how to get it back sorry

You have not put it in the correct region you have american style keyboard,To rectify go to control panel and click on regional and language and change to english uk.

Same thing happened to me , This is how it was solved..

As some readers have suggested- it the language setting.

Change from USA(How my pC changed by itself to USA from UK I will never know)

And you problem solved..

go to control panel and select regional languages you need english united kingdom

try switching to a new keyboard or your motherboard has an issue... you could see if the keyboard you have, has a driver available, but i doubt that is the issue

Change your setting to UK English from American English. should do the trick :o)

im dumb but sounds like you got american language installed quite easy to alter
