For me this was the hardest adjustment with my newborn (lack of sleep). And just as you mentioned she would be sleeping soundly and I just couldn't stop constantly getting up to check on her. I was just basically so concerned about her that I watched her all the time. Maybe this is part of the hormones that kick in those first few weeks, I am not sure. I had extreme exhaustion due to my 'new mother onsomnia'. But I think by the third month, I started to feel relaxed enough to take naps whenever she did and also at that time she started sleeping through the night only to take a bottle after a few hours. You get used to it after a while but those first weeks are torture. Especially if you are like me -the kind of person that requires a full night of sleep to function. I have always been a big sleeper but I have adjusted now. You soon will too.

Here are some tips that I learned from my newborn. First of all it's better to keep her in your room beside you. If you have a bassinette then carry the carrier basket with you in every room that you go. It's easier and will eliminate the habit of interrupting your sleep to walk across the house to check on the baby. Co-sleeping is also a wonderful thing and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it especially in those first few months when they are feeding and up around the clock.

If you cannot sleep well even with your baby by your side, then lay your baby on your tummy/chest and relax yourself in a recliner to sleep. Do whatever it takes to be comfortable enough to rest. Best of luck to you.

You have a 2 month old who doesn't wake up ?! Boy would my husband be jealous of you! It's okay-- totally normal to worry about your new baby. Try to relax and feel good that you have such a good sleeper-- you must be doing something right. :)
