do the elderly people of india receive any state pension or benefits? recently there on holiday and whilst we noticed that most of the elder people had family around to support them ...some people didnt and they seemed to be destitute and hungry. we just wondered - do these people get help?

surely a country cant ignore the elderly, infirm and poor members of the socitey? - or is that just the way it is in that part of the world. i would be really interested in knowing the answer to that...please - no nasty racist comments thank you.

it is the children that are considered to be the future caretakers of their parents. This is why Indians have large families and emphasize education for this particular benefit.

I think that India is too poor to be able to support people in that way. It is not a choice but a necessity
