Plan out tactically what's best for both of you. If you are certain you can't be friends with her anymore kindly tell her where you stand, just don't do it in a way that leaves her with one more reason to think she's better than you. Do it in a way that you know is right, kind, and appropriate. It may take time for you to know just how to do this...so go ahead and take what ever time you need.
On the other hand, maybe what she really needs from you is to remain distant friends so that you can remain a good influence on her, even if that influence is seldom...show her you care by doing what's right either way.
Best wishes....Scott

If you have such a close relationship with her... 12 years! I think you should talk to her, best friends DO that! tell her everything you feel and try to do it kindly so you won´t hurt her... and if she stills do those things, and you are not comfortable with that...then you get apart but very intelligent, first, you don´t call her too much, then, you don´t go out with her as much as you always do...and little by little you live your life apart from her...
These things happen a lot, people grow, evolve, and sometimes best friends, become so different, that the friendship changes...but it does not have to end... do not be sad... during your life you´ll meet and find different kind of friends, one to talk to, another to go out, other that be with you in those rainy days... etc... and that´s life... enjoy each one of those friends!!!!

Tell her exactly what you posted here (how you feel about what she's been doing), and tell her that if she doesn't change you'll have to end your friendship. Be firm, but kind.
If she doesn't change, its not your fault!!!!!!!!!!! I know it's gonna be hard, but don't let her bring you down, especially if shes messing with things like drugs and sex.
Let her know that you do care, in any case.
Reach out and make new friends. Get involved in a sport, or a club, or some other extracurricular activity.
Good luck.

I have to tell you that a true friend would recognize that this is the time she needs you the most.
You should make her aware that she has to get herself in check because you love and care about her and that if she doesn't you will have to go to her parents. This will accomplish one of two things, she will see you are right and get herself under control, allowing you to remain friends, or she will not and you will have to go to her parents and after you do that, you will not have to worry about ending your friendship... she will do it for you.
At least you will be helping in some way and not just turning your back on a friend in need.

if u two havegrown apart so much i don't think it will be as hard on her as it will you. tell her calmy and if she gets cocky then don't back - kill her with kindness - just let her know that if this is the path she is setting for her self you don't want to be a part of it and if 12 years means nothing to her that is fine and you will always love her and a true friend will always be waiting her

I don't think you need to tell her. You can just drift away from her, like any other friendships end. There's no easy way of telling someone that you don't want to be their friend anymore, but I guess you should say that you two have gone your seperate ways and that you both need to not be friends anymore.

I went through this same thing in school with my friend Ashley. We were inseperable until Junior high when she became a hoe and started doing drugs. For myself I just avoided her. I never sat her down and said, " I don't want to be your friend". I just let her take a hint. You need to get away from her if she is going to be a bad influence on you. However, i agree with Stephy Hall......you should do everything to help her until she does not want your help..

Is it that you don't want to be friends with her anymore, or you want to control her? Because you can't change anyone.
People do grow apart. It is a rare friendship that lasts a lifetime. If you want to discontinue the relationship, then do it gradually. Make yourself less available until you aren't seeing her anymore at all. It's less hurtful and traumatic that way.
